The business should understand the software, the quality of its invoice data, the implementation process and the licensed integration route required under the current FBR framework.
1. Verify the current FBR requirement first
Before choosing software, confirm what the current FBR rules require for the registered person. FBR maintains separate Digital Invoicing legal provisions, technical assistance and FAQs, and these should take priority over old screenshots, sales messages or assumptions.
2. Check the licensed integration route
FBR's current FAQs state that notified registered persons integrate their POS, ERP or other invoicing system through a licensed integrator with a valid FBR license. FBR also maintains an official list of licensed integrators and describes PRAL as an available licensed-integration route under the applicable rules.
If the software provider is not itself the licensed integrator, ask clearly which licensed integration route will be used and who is responsible for configuration, testing and support.
3. Review the business-data workflow
- How will seller and buyer information be maintained?
- How will product or service records and tax fields be prepared?
- Can staff reuse clean master data instead of correcting every invoice manually?
- How are validation errors and failed submissions shown?
- Can management distinguish submitted, failed and pending invoices?
4. Test the workflow, not only the API connection
A successful connection does not prove that day-to-day invoicing will work well. Representative invoices should be tested with the business's real transaction patterns, and users should understand what to do when FBR validation returns an error.
5. Ask what support is included
- Initial setup and data preparation
- Configuration and integration coordination
- Testing and issue handling
- Staff training
- Post-launch support and updates
- Charges for customization or work outside the agreed scope
